We have our pipes outside, and hot water is lukewarm in our bath during winter. We have One Handle Tub & Shower Faucet, which probably has anti-scolding and doesn’t allow turning the handle all over to make water hotter. Our pipes supposedly insolated. In order to get two handle faucet, we need to rebuild the whole wall.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Can I find one handle Tub & Shower Faucet without anti-scolding (I’ve heard it is law to have anti-scolding faucets)? However, what can I do if water is hot in my sink, and doesn't get any hotter in my bath. Could you please suggest me what to do. I would like to avoid rebuilding the whole wall.

There are many tub /shower valves on the market that do not have temp/pressure controls built in. One is Briggs Model#4311 Single handle tub and shower valve which retails for around 50$. If you wish to see more click on back. Good luck, Tom

Delta Faucet 621
Model #: 621
Finish : Polished Chrome
Series : 600 Series

Now looking at their web site, I see that this is only a shower valve "Non-Pressure Balanced Shower Only with Lever Handle"

I think I need a tub and shower valve since I have both.

Is it complicated to change a valve for a person who never did this before?

It can get pretty complicated if you don't have plumbing skills and equipment. Tub and shower valves are soldered in as a rule so you would have to have some skill in soldering and the equipment to do it with. A hazzard in replacing a tub/shower valve is that you'll be soldering inside walls with a open flame. This is a dangerous practice,(I always have a pail of water next to me ) and only experienced plumbers should try it. My advice? Contract out the job. Good luck, Tom
