I started receiving popups yesterday telling me my computer was copying itself and wanted me to do a scan, obviously trying to sell me software. It would not go away. I ran adaware and scanned twice. It still would not disappear. I tried getting int control panel to see if I could find a stray software to delete. I received a message saying control panel was restricted and to contact my administrator. I also tried to do control alt delete and got the same message. After this I rebooted. Since that, the control panel option has disappeared from my computer options. Otherwise, my computer runs Fine

Try using System Restore and go back to an earlier date.

P.S. please don't use e-mail or PMs to follow-up, post a note to the thread.

I would also try the Trend Micro Housecall online scan, it scans for viruses, spyware, and adware. It's always up to date, too, because it scans online.

Find it here: TrendSecure | HouseCall™ Free Scan (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/free_security_tools/housecall_free_scan.php?WT.cg_n=home_qa_housecall)

Or go here TrendSecure : Total Security Protection (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/) and click on HouseCall Free Scan
