I know a "friend", who married a Cdn girl in the UK. They then moved to Canada, and had another "wedding".

My question are : would the 2nd canadian "marriage" not be legal if a marriage license had already been issued from the UK? IN order to start divorce proceedings, would a divorce have to be granted from the UK as well as Canada?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Did they have another "wedding" or did the file for another marriage license? A lot of people have more than one wedding for family reasons and such.

They had another wedding and another marriage license as no one really knew about the first one. (don't ask... whole other story ) :)

The marriage became legal in whatever country they obtained and submitted an actual marriage license. Weddings themselves are not legally binding, only marriage certificates signed by both parties.
