So here is the story... Me and my husband have 3 dogs, a big family for newly weds but we are living it up. My question being I want another dog. Is four dogs just craziness? We have two miniatures, an Italian greyhound and a min pin. About a month after the wedding we adopted a Great Dane on a whim. I fell quickly in love with him and now we want another one. My husband loves the idea of another Great Dane in the family but he thinks that we should give my dog (the min pin) up and then we can have another Dane. He has never liked the temperate of my dog and just doesn't like the breed in general, but being the sweetie he is he surprised me with her as a gift shortly after we started dating. I will never part with her. Yeah, she is a handful and hyper 24-7 but I just call that 'personality'. So any good arguments for or against my desire for a new addition?

I nearly always say follow your heart. Facts and logic are important in the care and training of dogs. I am not even sure having a dog at all is logical, just a matter of your heart. It hardly seem right to give up one of your other 3 before adding another. To do so, you absolutely would have to find not just a home, but a great opportunity for the Min Pin.

Hi! Are you after another great dane because it will be a much better size match of a playmate for the one you currently own? I think it's a wonderful idea so long as your household and especially backyard is large enough. I'm sure you don't want everyone crammed up and tripping over each other. If you have to sacrifice another pet to bring a new one in then I strongly disagree. But it sounds like you won't give up any of the little buggers. Whatever you decide, just make sure you're able to afford all the extra vet costs, food, and supplies that a new dog will require. You'll also have to divy up your attention and make sure everyone feels like part of the family:)
