Hello
I am 32 yrs old and in KY and in 1992 my father (not my biological father but raised me since I was 5 along with my mother) adopted me by handwritten declaration. He did this because he said he want me to have proof in case anything happened to him or mom.

Well a few weeks ago my dad passed away and his sibling -all but one are now saying I'm not his child ext. and have basically gotten very vicious. They destroyed his will and are claiming he had no children ext. so they are the next in line for heir to his estate.

I guess what I want to know is am I legal? Do I have any rights.

Of course in dads will my mother was provided for and the grandchildren, and it stated that in the event moms was not alive at the time of his death I was to get everything ext.and all moneys in bank accounts and stocks were to go the brother and sisters, but they are being very greedy. The night we found him dead while we were with he police ext. the sister and brother went and got the will(both copies) and took them.
So its getting messy!

I just want to know if the hand written declaration of adoption my parents and I had is legal?

The hand written declaration of adoption is not legal unless it was certified by the court.
