So I am 15, almost 16, and I don't take because. My period always varys a little, both in time I get it (3-5 weeks apart) and in heavyness of flow (light to really really heavy) but it only ever lasts 5 to 6 days. So I went camping last weekend, and I was supposed to stop my period 2 days before we left, but there was this brown discharge for about a week after my period. It didn't hurt, and it wasn't heavy (enough to go though my panties/pants like my normal period can be), and it had a smell but I couldn't tell if it was blood or something else. Then it stopped. And now I'm wondering what it was. Anybody know?

Chances are it was blood and you probably don't have anything to worry about. Periods just get weird sometimes. ;)

After years and years of having your period you will experience this more and more.
The brownish discharge can come right after your normal period or right before. If it comes after, that is just the last of your blood. Its brown because its old. Its just your body cleaning itself. :) Sometimes the brownish stuff will go for a couple days making your normal period seem longer. But it seems like you have nothing to worry about!
