We have a MF house with an older (1999) Goodman ac unit. My partner is pretty handy but neither of us knows anything about this kind of stuff. For a few days the unit was running but not cooling very efficiently, so we thought it might be a filter or something, and went poking around. He found 2 purple wires that were disconnected, so smart guy that he is, he assumed they should be connected. When we tried to turn it back on... nothing happens. No air, no fan, no nothing. We are thinking maybe those wires were not supposed to be connected to each other, and we have shorted something out. We just bought this place and a couple of horses, and if we can avoid a service or repair charge, that would be great! Thanks.

Not sure where he found the wires at but he either blue a 5 amp fuse on the circuit board if it has one to protect the transformer or fried the transformer if it is not protected by a fuse
