How can I install it in XP Professional? When the USB is connected and the power is on the computer automatically install the drivers and releases "new hardware ready to use" but the device is not shown anywere as an "external drive" or so.

It should just show up in My Computer as a different drive letter that you didn't have before. Usually, if you've got a floppy drive, that's A, your hard drive is C (and D if you have 2), and the CD Drives would be D (if you only had one hard drive), E, and so on, for however many CD or DVD drives you had. Then, the flashdrives are usually next.

I have in my desktop: A, C, and plus D, E and F (CD/DVD/extra internall hard disk). When I plug a camera or a usb memory stick a removeable folder shows up as you said, as G for example. But this new usb device doesn't show up at all even being supposedly installed! There is no sign that the external data storage (hard disk 320 Gigabytes) is there even the XP instaling the drivers automatically and confirming its installation!

Have you tried rebooting after you connected it? Where isn't it showing up, on device manager? It might just be under a different category, you can change it to "Devices By Connection" under the view menu in device manager to see what it's detecting on each USB port.

Thank you guy for your support. Today I was inspired and went deeply into the problem - I had actually to format this new HD. It is working now.
