Hi, Does anyone know of a software package that enables an extended virtual screen on a single monitor, I do not meen multiple extended screens or extending your display over multiple monitors, in other words you select a resolution much larger than the monitor is capable of displaying and it displays a portion of it on screen, when you move the mouse down to an edge is smoothly slides over to display the rest of the screen. Matrox had one which I think was called Powerdesk utilities when it introduced the Millennium G200 graphics card under the NT4 OS, but when it added new drivers for XP It had it in the beta driver but then it dropped the utility all together after that. Thank you.

I remember having such a utility many years ago. It was like your physical screen was a viewer on a larger desktop. As you moved the cursor the window would move giving you a view of a different area of your desktop.

I think this is a function of your video adapter under XP. If the video adapter doesn't support it, you are stuck.

Thanks for the reply, the matrox G200 card did have this driver but Matrox dropped it after the Beta XP drivers. So I am still looking for a utility/program to do this. I did get a response from Matrox about this several years ago and I think it had something to do with licensing issues, so I assume that someone else has the licence, and if that is true then that company may be producing this utility themselves. My view is if most graphic cards can display multiple desktops on one monitor then it should also be possible to be able to do one extended screen if the software allowed it, and it might not be hardware based.
