I recently ran across an article about the latest thing that Teens are doing it is called Triple c and it is over the counter flu and cold tablet, they take a large amount and I guess get high from it.
There has been kids die from this.
Has any one heard of this or teens that have tried this I am curious about it
What is the attraction? Is it worth the risk?

Hello again, Treeny:

Over the counter cold and flu tablets AREN'T available over the counter anymore. They're BEHIND the counter where the pharmacist identifies everybody who buy's it.

IF children are abusing it, the druggist SHOULD be held accountable.

I beg to differ excon. I just bought Sudafed and Benadryl over-the-counter yesterday. Sudafed is supposed to be behind the counter, but it wasn't.

Oh, yeah, forgot about the Dayquil, and the Tylenol Severe Cold Formula too. LOL

Many places are trying to get all these behind the counter. I got mine yesterday at one drug store who has them over-the-counter. If I go to Wal-Mart for instance, I have to show my drivers' license for the Sudafed, but nothing else.

Yup J9...skittle tripping

Must be a Tennessee thing Rank. LOL

excon agrees: Can't help it if the country is full of law breaking druggists!

In Tennessee the only thing that, by law, is supposed to be behind the counter is the Sudafed as it is used in the manufacturing meth. Can't use benadryl to make meth.

Wow, my Wal-mart here in TN must be breaking the law then. They have any and ever kind of Sudafed there is over the counter.

And, I wouldn't think you'd take benadryl to get high at all. I can't imagine it being part of a Triple C. But, what do I know? I'm an OLD drug user.

PS> K, did some research. Here's what I found.

Coricidin brand cold medicine is often taken in doses higher, often much higher, than recommended for its dextromethorphan content. Since DXM has dissociative effects in high doses, it is sought for recreational use. In this sense, Coricidin is referred to as C's, Corey (Cori), Dex, DXM, Triple C's (as in, Coricidin Cough & Cold).

Coricidin, Coricidin 'D' (decongestant), or CoricidinHBP (for high blood pressure), is the name of a drug marketed by Schering-Plough that contains dextromethorphan (a cough suppressant) and chlorphenamine maleate (an antihistamine). Varieties of Coricidin may also contain acetaminophen (an analgesic/fever reducer) and guaifenesin (an expectorant). The drug is marketed as a remedy for the common cold, especially for people with hypertension, whose high blood pressure may worsen if they take other decongestants.
