My friend needs advice. She is 16 almost 17 and she is dating this guy who is awesome. He is very caring and wonderful to her. And things are getting serious with them, but her family keeps telling her to date more people and not settle with the first "real" boyfriend. And she has told me that she doesn't want to date anyone else, and that she LOVES him. And I can tell that they are both in love with each other. But I just don't know what to tell her. I am married to my first "real" boyfriend and things are going great. But we haven't been married long enough for me to regret anything (and I highly doubt I will) but I don't want to give her the wrong advice. And he got an engagement ring and they were talking about getting married when she's 17 or 18, I just don't know what to tell her. I mean I feel that if she don't want to date anyone else then why should she? If she dumps the wonderful guy she's with now to go date some loser then she could ruin future with the "right one"... please help...

Sometimes we can only let people do what they want, it is her life and decision to make.

Hello.

I can understand what her parents are telling her, how can she know if he is Mr. Right if she hasn't found very many Mr. Wrongs to judge him by. I can also understand her point of view, if she Loves him and doesn't want to date others why should she and why break up a good thing.

My advice is to slow down and give the relationship some time. Make a deal that when she is lets say 21 they can get married. That way they both have time to grow and mature in life. Hope they both are planing on going to school and get a real education so they can make their mark in the work place and not have to work dead end jobs that only let them scrape by. Im not saying money is the only thing that makes you happy I'm saying without the constant pressure of how are we going to pay the bills each month they will get along better and can use their time making each other happy.
