I started having problems with my toilet overflowing, but recently pinpointed it overflowing when the washing machine is emptying out. The washer has actually been leaking itself for about four months now, but has just now started causing toilet problems. I read some of the other answers to questions similar to mine, and someone suggested snaking out the laundry via a roof vent. Where would I find such a vent, and if I do, is it easily accessible? I do not have a septic tank. I am on limited income, and just trying to avoid calling a plumber, do to the cost. If anyone has any suggestions on what I need to do and EXACTLY how I need to do it, then you will be a life-saver. Thanks!

You have a partial blockage downstream from the toilet and the line needs to be snaked and cleared. You may go this from (a) the washer roof vent located above the washer location, (b) you can pull the toilet and snake from the open closet bend , (c) you can go down the washer stand pipe and around the trap or (d) you can go down the lavatory roof vent that services the bathroom toilet. Good luck, Tom
