My husband and I have recently put new vinyl siding on our house. We have been noticing through driving around our community that a fair amount of homes with vinyl siding has a green and black color mold growing on it.Does anyone have any idea what causes this and how to prevent it from growing on the siding. I am very concerned that ours will get this and I deffinitely don't want it.

I think that it is caused from too much dampness, and not enough sunlight reaching the homes. I have seen brick homes with the same type of mold on them. I live in a town with house built in the 1800 to 1900's. I see a lot of homes with vinyl siding, if I see mold it is usually on the ones that have a lot of trees in the yard.

You will want and need to keep it washed. And before the mold actually starts growing into the siding material, then the dots are very hard to get rid of. If you wash on a regular basis with some mold killing materials it will keep it under control

Mold is a spore that floats in the wind. Once it lands it will grow with the right conditions, generally shade and moisture. Remove either condition and the mold can be controlled. You can also wash the house with a Mildecide spray on the end of a garden hose. Most home centers sell this spray in the paint department.
