Hi I am very concerned about my cat. He is a 15 yr old inside cat who has developed a hard lump on his side. I had taken him to the vet and they wanted to do a biopy. I heard if it was cancer it could cause it to spread . A week ago it started to come out of his side to an open wound. He is eating and drinking but I would like to make him comfortable. I feel vets take advantage of these situations. Please help!

Vets do not take advantage of this situation! Would you say the same thing if you had a big lump on your side and a doctor told you it could be cancer?

I have a cat who is between 10-13 years old, and he also developed a large lump on his side. He needed to get the lump removed because it was severe. Cancerous and it was strating to spread. Now, it will probably be expensive, but you should definitely ask. Otherwise, you might want to think about getting him put down. I'm sure you don't want him to suffer.

I think redraven is right. I would at least let them do the biopsy. It could just be a noncancerous cyst. 15 is pretty old for a cat, but I have known some to live 20-22 years with no problems until the end.
