What is the best way to get divorced fast? I live in California and I would like to remarry soon but I am not yet divorced. If I apply for a marriage license will my current marriage be listed? How about in Nevada? Can we just perform a ceremony now without a license and perform a civil ceremony when the divorce is final? Will a Nevada license be valid in California? What will happen criminally if I am married to two people? Lots of questions. Thanks for answering any of them.

When you apply for a marriage license, the license does have the question about previous marriage/divorce. If you have been divorced, you supply the paperwork to verify you are clear to remarry. Now you can lie, it has been done before. But if you do and you marry, you become a bigamist, which is not legal.

What is the hurry in this? Do it legal and then you do not have to ask or have to worry. Find an attorney who is licensed in both CA and NV and ask that person. Once you are legally divorced, you can remarry anywhere.

Bigamy is a crime. People go to jail for committing crimes.

First your second marriage would not be legal if you were already married, so that wife would not have any right to inheritance or any right as next of kin.

The act of getting married while still married is criminal and you can go to jail, pay a fine or both.

If you are still married to some one, you have to get a divorce before you can get a marriage license in any state legally.

Now many pastors, I know I do, do a service without a license.
I have many seniors because of the stupid US laws, that want to live together and be "married in God's eyes" and don't care about the US laws. So I bless their union so they can live together without losing part of their social security or retirement.

Also many pastors do a blessing of gay couples in areas where they can not legally marry.
But the pastor will be sure both bride and groom are aware this is not a legal wedding merely a blessing
