Could a collection agency put a bad item (that was already removed from the credit report once) back on a year or two after it was removed?
The original debt was a unfulfilled contract with Bally's back in 2000-2001 I never paid it and less then a year ago when I checked my credit report it was NOT on it.
I started the process of fixing my ruined credit.
However a couple of weeks ago I got a notice from credit monitoring that this item is back again by a different collection agency.
I am desperately trying to fix my credit I have paid everything else off and now I have a bad item again for over $3000.
Is this legal? How can I dispute this? What is the statue of limitation in New York?
Please help
Thank You
Laszlo

What you have to understand is that your obligation to pay a debt never goes away. If you are trying to fix your credit that item should be included.

Actually it does answer your question. You say you are trying to fix your credit and paid everything else off so why haven't you paid that off.

Hello TLa

If you are trying to fix your credit this will have to be paid. I agree with Scottgem your obligation to pay never goes away The only way to fix this is to pay it!
