If you miss your period then see your doctor, he will be able to give you a more accurate blood test.

Was the second line noticeable within the ten minute time frame the test says? If it was after that time, then it can not be considered accurate. I also suggest taking another home pregnancy test, preferably digital if you have trouble reading the lines... The tests that the doctor will give you will not be much more accurate than the home tests, with the exception of a quantitative blood test, and most often, they will require several negatives on the regular tests before administering one of those... If you go longer than 2 weeks past due with negative tests, then I suggest seeing a doctor, make sure you let them know how many tests you have attempted. Good luck.

I would double check the instructions and make sure you were within the time limits as alkalineangel said.

I would also wait a few days and take another one... your HCG (if your pregnant) doubles every 2 days... so if you were within the time limits and you saw a faint line but aren't too sure you may just need to wait a few days for the HCG to build up in your system.

Just piling on. You've had good advice and I'm just backing it up.

After the time stated on the test you cannot go back later to see if its changed, as was mentioned. Also, as stated, your hormone levels, if you are pregnant, will increase every day and the statement to take another test in a few days if unsure is realistic. AND... as stated, when in doubt, get a blood test as its more sensitive, is also true.

False positives, where the person tests positive when using the tests properly, but they aren't pregnant, are less common. But checking the strip too late can also do this.

"false" negatives, where you are pregnant but the test cannot detect it due to low levels of hormones, are more common. Which is why it's a waiting game now... take a test and wait... another and wait... if in doubt, see a doc or a clinic.
