Does a well preserved 1944 penny have any considerable value ?

It's a "wheatie"? Not to my knowledge. There are still too many of them in circulation and in existence. (I have a piggy bank full of them.) Hold on to it for another 25 years and maybe...

Whether it is worth much value at all greatly depends on the condition of it, also where it was minted and the number of them that were minted. If it is uncirculated of even not, it is not advisable to hold it or any collectible coin for that matter on it's face or the back (obverse and reverse.) If it is one of the very, very rare 1944 pennies that is made of steel, then it could have great value indeed. But again, it does depend on it's condition.
What you find on the following sites may also be helpful to you. I hope that they are. If your coin is truly uncirculated, then it's value may be somewhat more than the listings that you find, but not much more.

humble player - please look on the front side where the {date} is and let me know what the mint mark is under the date:: it will be none :: a {d} or a (d) over a (s):: or it will be a (s ) mint mark:: you may have to use a mag> glass in order to see the {d} over the {s} mint mark:: a little history on the lincoln wheat penny:: there was two varietys from 1909 till 1942;; variety 1 was from 1909 till1942 ,they were made with bronz, ;variety 2 was used in 1943,it was zlnk, coated steel;; then variety 1 was resuimed in 1944 through 1958,it was bronz again;; [ cartridge cases were salvaged for coinage in 1944 through 1946; although the color was slighty different for uncirculated specimens, the coins proved satisfactory in every respect:: ;; i thought you might be interrested in this information:: have a great day and god bless:: waiting yopur reply : need the actual condition of the coin also:: f. b.e.
