I have a Briggs & Stratton riding mower. At first when it got too hot, it would die. Now, it seems like it's getting too much gas; I smell fuel. It won't start. Any thoughts?

Sounds like your coil is bad. Is it firing at the spark plug?

Sorry for the delay! Yes it is firing at the spark plug. Is the coil simply to replace?

If it is firing at the plug, the coil is o.k. the next thing to check is the flywheel key. If it is sheared you can still obtain a spark, it just will not be at the precise time. Therefore, getting fuel, air, spark , and compression, just not combustion.
