My boyfriend has glomerunephritis, insufficiencey and hypertension.
It was highly suggested he eat potassium free - help!!
The list of foods he should NOT eat is a mile long, and the OK list has no decent ideas for good meals on it.
Any suggestions?

Hmm well it seems it's nearly impossible to have potassium FREE meals as this would end up being sugar and fat, but there are a number of LOW potassium meals.
Try these for starters: POTASSIUM CONTENT OF FOODS LIST (http://www.healthtouch.com/bin/EContent_HT/cnoteShowLfts.asp?fname=02023&title=POTASSIUM+CONTENT+OF+FOODS+LIST+&cid=HTHLTH)

Potassium is found in just about all foods, including of course fruits, veggies and dairy. Butter, margarine and oils, (fats) and sugars are the only potassium free foods. Food like vegan rella cheese, low fat cream cheese, low fat cottage cheese, broth based soups, are some choices but there are a lot of sites on the web that will help you achieve a low low potasium diet, you need to check these lists. A good start would be to check out this site: www.davita.com/diet-and-nutrition-basics, they will give you a good look at High potassium foods and foods you should not eat together. Check it out, it's a start!
