I am a 34 year old african-american female. I have been married to my husband for almost 18 years. About 5 years ago, I was experiencing more pains than normal during my period. I went to my gyn and she discovered that I had two fibroids. She indicated that the extra pain was due to the fibroids as well as the fact that I had my tubes tied. She stated that most black women have fibroids and that really, there was no need for concern. About one month ago, after intercourse with my husband, there was some bleeding. I thought that my period was just starting a little early. The same thing happened this morning after intercourse, except the bleeding was a little heavier at first and then reduced to a mild spotting after wiping. I am not due for my period until another week or so. Please tell me if this is associated with the fibroids and how common this is. I am currently self-employed with NO Health insurance, so it is very difficult for me to just go see a doctor. The last pap that I had was two years ago, and it came back normal.

Thank you so much. It has been on my mind all day. I sincerely wish someone would answer soon. I usually don't post things on the internet, but I'm desperate for a reply.

I hope so, too!

I would suggest to go to a free health clinic to get checked out. I have never experienced this and am not familiar with fibriods. I don't know what area you live in, but where I live we have health clinics that only charge what you can afford to pay (and many of times they are free). I have gone to the clinic a few times and was never charged anything. It is worth checking out what types of free clinics you might have in your area. I hope everything works out for you and you get the answer you are looking for.

This could very well be due to your fibroids. Is the sex rough at all? If so, time to tame it down a bit.

With a situation such as this it is really necessary to visit a doctor or a clinic. I understand that you don't have insurance, I don't either. But this could very well be cause for concern on so many levels.
