'76 Luxaire res unit, model EEC048FAB, sercial 195103002440, with condenser fan motor from Electric Motors and Specialties. Motor mmodel 9-131HU416-01, 1/4/hp, 230V, 1 ph, 60hs, 2.8 amps, 800 rpt, rot ccw, serial p76. Fan motor bearings bad - have been super-lubeing it for yers to keep it going but this is the end of the road.

I can't find an online source for the motor. What is best solution (no, I don't want to replace the condenser unit - last bid I had was $4800 as it seems everything is too small, too old, not right, even the copper pipe to take freon from the condenser unit to the attic is too small! 4 ton unit to cool a 2000 ft house - did pretty well in years past.

What is your advice? Take an auto bearing puller and pull off the motor cap with the fan attachments and put it on the nearest-to-spec generic motor and condenser combo I can find? Have the motor rebuilt? Something else I haven't considere in seeking an economical solution?

Your help and comments are greatly appreciated as its HOT here in Texas!

Thanks,
Chuck

Buy a new generic motor, trying to repair the old motor would cost as much or more and no warranty. Look in your phone book for W.W.Graingers, they sell motors and almost every thing else you can think of. You will spend probably less then $100.00 and also replace the capacitor as well. Good luck, Mike

The old lux condensing motors had the built in half blade that the other blade mounted to. It was a very strange and unusual motor to start with. Lately I have not been able to find any supplier that has them. At one time there was a conversion kit but I have not sen them either. Good luck.
