We bought this house in 1988, it was built in the fifties, the previous owners lived here less than a year, we are raising a grandson that has lived with us the whole time, since he was born. When he was little he would laugh and act like he was talking to someone,I used to ask him if he was talking to the angels.he just turned thirteen, over the years he has become scared to be by himself. He said two times he saw a older man, once standing in the kitchen and once in his bedroom, the first time he saw him in the kitchen, my wife heard him scream for help and he ran into the room my wife was in. Me and my wife have heard and seen things, such as someone calling our name when nobody else is in the house. Doors slamming shut, one night I was in bed and my wife was still up, I thought I felt her get into bed and was going to tell her good night, but she wasn't there, she was still in the other room watching TV. We are thinking about moving. Things don't happen all the time just now and then, what's going on? How do we cure this?

Chances are a move is not necessary. I had a similar problems when I moved into my last house. It was an old Victorian house. We had a ghost of a young girl who would move things, make noises and we had a ghost of an older man who was quite creepy.

What we did was get some holy water and with it we made the sign of the cross above all the doors in the house. We then lit a candle and walked through the house and told the ghosts that they were dead and that this is not their house anymore and that they needed to go to God. We then burned sage in all the rooms. No more ghosts after that.

Also, keep in mind they won't hurt you they are just sort of weird to have.

I believe ghosts can harm you, but this may not happen each time a human contacts a ghost or vise versa.
And I do not think these ghosts are dead souls, but just "ghosts" and they may need to be reminded that this is your home and not theirs so to please leave you alone.

If you are already planning to move for other reasons it might be a good idea to do so as this might take your grandson away from bad memories he may have of the house.
Even if the ghost stops disturbing, your grandson will still remember his contacts with the ghost, and it might affect his overall outlook towards life in general.

As I am a muslim I do not think you will really believe in the cure we believe in, so I refrain from bringing in my faith into this thread.

Well your story is really scary... I can imagine what you are suffering from we had something similar a leady with black long hear & red dress walking in the house scares everybody at home especially if we are in bathroom, in addition of hearing somebody keep on calling us with our names.. Things falling down at kitchen... etc We started doing daily prayers & read special parts of the holly book, things are much better now, but once I get lazy and we do not do it on daily basis , the day we do not pray , the whole house can not sleep... Now back to your story... Well I think that ghosts can follow you... actually I do advise you to do the following:

A) do daily prayers at home & bring a priest to pray & bless your home.

B) Investigate the history of your old house, ask your neighbors about it because you might find the answer to your question by finding more about that entity you will be able to know what does she want from you.

E) Please provide me with more info reagrding the entity when did it start to appear? Were you using baby sitters at your old house... or friends were staying during your absence?? Investigate if any had performed any of the magical spells or played with Ouija board even check it out with your grandson.

Take care of yourself & family.

GOD Bless & Protect you & your family.

OK to answer your one question ghost sometimes stay because they still think there alive or afriad of what will happen to them in the after life. Now don't start freaking out cause if you show fear that's how they become more powerful and then there harder to get rid of. If you only see the ghost a few times then you should try the basics like burn a sage and go into every room and say in a firm but kind voice that the spirit is no longer alive and it must leave. Also burn a candle after this and don't blow it out, this is suppose to keep the ghost from coming back. If you don't then the ghost will visit you randomly. If you see the ghost a lot then maybe you should get professional help. I like that one idea that one guy said about the holy water and the cross.

Well you can't really cure this because when a ghost stays in a house it normally is connected to something in the house or you can contact it talk to it or help it cross over by getting a clairvoyant.

Please remember, most ghosts do not realise they are ghosts. It's a little like tripping on acid. They do not know fully what is going on, but they comprehend being there. They move around taking in tiny bits of information, since nothing comes in clearly.

Simply talking to them, even if you don't get an answer may be a huge help to you. Make it known who you are and why you are there. Tell them you are a friend. Tell them you will not harm them. Sometimes they will leave you alone, sometimes they will wan't to live among you peacefully. It is very very rare that they would want you to leave once you've established that you are good.

Remember, to them, this is their house, and you are the ghost.

For those still responding to the original post, you might want to consider that Tx07 has not so much as logged back onto this site since August 20, 2007 at 11:59 A.M. I do hope that Tx07 comes back to see the responses that have been given here.

I wish I would have had a nice ghost to baby sit for me! I never actually seen a ghost but I would like to and I don't think it would bother me to have one in my house, if it was a nice one that is.

Something similar has happened in my home... actually, several times throughout my life. We are having a professional team come out this evening to investigate and a priest to do a house blessing with us. You may want to look into something like that. Our priest says that this is usually a sign that you or someone in your house has the God given gift of clairvoyancy.
