I am a finalist in an interview process for a local municipality for a professional finance position. I have a guilty plea for two DUI's on my record. The DUI was unrelated to my professional life. I am following all the court appointed stipulations and staying within my probation terms. I have disclosed the conviction on the original application. How is this viewed by potential employer and what can I do to increase my chances of being offered the position.

If you disclosed the DUIs on your original application and have made it as a finalist, then it would seem that your past record has not jeopardized your application. I don't think, though, there is anything more you can do at this point but hope that the other finalists are not quite equal to you. If your past record is the ONLY thing that differentiates you from the other candidates it could then become a factor.
