Each cigarette contains about 9 mg of nicotine, but a lot of that is burned off, so a smoker actually gets only about 1 mg. :)

I assume that you mean CIGARETTE?
It depends on the brand and style.

EDT- N'Star I believe that you are misinformed as there ISN'T a set amount in each cigarette as I have already mentioned, there's a lot of variation.

Hello j:
Even a tiny bit is poison, however. It'll kill you.

American cigarettes contain about 9 mg of nicotine, but because much of the nicotine is burned off, a smoker gets about 1 mg of nicotine in every cigarette.
I got this from here : Neuroscience For Kids - nicotine (http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/nic.html)
If the website is wrong, I apologize. :)
**EDIT** - Not trying to argue! I was just showing you my source. If it is wrong it should be changed. :p

N'Star, if you are going to quote websites at least cite your source rather than trying to pass things off as your own work.
