Would anyone happen to know what this piece of furniture is? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Brett

Well, it definitely looks very old. Do you know the country of origin? Being that the chamber on the left has a covering that is grated, it would seem that whatever would be stored in there would need to have air circulating for some reason.

Check the antique/collectible furniture price guides at the public library. There are often photos. This looks like a desk of some sort, maybe French? I don't know if the grated box is decorative or is supposed to house a pet lion cub. If I find more information, I'll post it.

I am wondering where you got the idea about the pet lion cub. Sounds interesting!

No unfortunately I do not know the country of origin. My guess is a server of some sort. The piece is not actually mine I build and repair furniture and this customer contacted me with this question. I will know more when It arrives here at the shop.
Thanks again,
Brett

Thank You for getting back to me. I'll ceck that out at the library. My guess is a server of some sort although the lion cub idea is pretty funny. The piece is not actually mine I build and repair furniture and this customer contacted me with this question. I will know more when It arrives here at the shop.
Thanks again,
