Hi my dog is a lab mixed with chow, he seems to be losing weight but doesn't show any signs of being sick. He's very playful everyday eats well but it seems like his weight has dropped off in the last 3 weeks. I am worried that he's to thin. Can someone please tell me what I can do to help him gain. Thanks Pam

First I would evaluate him as at LongLiveYourDog.com - Life Span Study - Rate Your Dog (http://www.longliveyourdog.com/twoplus/RateYourDog.aspx) If he is too thin now, or continues to lose weight, I would see the vet. Could be worms, could be something else.

Pam, if you haven't changed his kibble or portion amount, and if your dogs regular exercise schedule is the same as usual, a sudden drop in weight is not the norm. It would be wise to schedule a vet visit to rule out health issues first rather than trying to find something that will help him gain weight.

Go to the vet. Also to help gain weight, you can cook ramen noodles and feed the dog this between regular feedings. And I know someone will disagree, but when we raised labs and redbones we fed this to the females before and after birth to help keep them in good shape.

Don't try to cover up a health problem with junk food.
