Hello,

We're planning to purchase a central air conditioner. We've been shopping around and so far the Goodman brand is the one that so far fits within our budget. So I;m asking for some advice if the brand Goodman is a good brand.

Thanks!

The Higher the SEER rating, the More efficient, and expensive it gets.
Saving now, may not save in long run. No experience with Goodman.

Trane, Carrier and even Amana are good products. Buy the most efficient you can afford.

Its just according to who you are taking to. If you talk to a tech that pushes a certain brand you can be pretty sure that is what he is trying to sell. And he`ll put down most everything else. Some a/c `s have a lot of expensive parts in them ,that others seem to work fine without having. Simple and uncomplicated seem to work as well as the ones the parts selling company`s are pushing,, look over all the choices

I see a lot of Goodman in my area. Good units and they are affordable. More important than brand is the installation. Go with someone you can trust. Good Luck

The best A/C is the one that is installed the best. Pick the company you have the most faith in to do your work. A/C units all do the same thing but the quality of the install makes the difference.

One of my Family mebers installs a lot of Goodman products. He is very picky about his work and has not had any problems with them so far. Most units are basically have the same innards. Like the guys said earlier, the installation is the MOST important thing. Heck, If I didn't know anything about this stuff I would hire an inspector afterwards to check everything out. I can't express to you enough how important the installation is. All the way down to putting on the silver duct tape!

The proper contractor is more important than brand. The best unit will not work properly if mis-installed. Do your homework and make sure you deal with the right person. That will make the most difference in the long run. Make she a load calculation is performed to verify proper equipment sizing, don't rely on "rules of thumb". HVAC equipment is just like everything else... it's constantly evolving what use to work years ago may not fly now days. Good luck ! Hope this helps.
