Okay, I know this doesn't go here but I didn't know where else to put it so...

I rescued two doberman puppies from a puppymill a week and a half ago... they are now 18 days old... when they were 12 days old, I took them to the vet to get dewormed and to have an exam done on both puppies. They said the puppies were dehydrated from not being properly nursed. Max and lily [the dogs] were given sub-q fluids. Now, a few days later, they are dehydrated again. The skin at the base of their head has lost all elasticity and their noses are dry. I have been feeding them every 4 to 5 hours the amount instructed by the vet's office. I'm feeding them ESBILAC, the recommended brand. What do I do?

My dog was rescued too! When the Animal Rescue Unit found him, he was tied to a bridge! And he was also dehydrated, his BLACK nose was so dry, that it turned PINK! Weird, anyway Pedialite is also a good source, that's what got our dog back on track! If you try it, tell me if it works!

If they won't drink water, try giving them crushed ice. As long as they are nursing, you might dilute the formula getting more water into them. I think electrolytes such as Pedialite are more useful for losing fluid to diarrhea.

You may also want to get back with the vet. They don't charge for follow up phone calls. At this age being separated from their mother, can cause a lot of issues. They are still at a critical stage. Pester the vet. That is what he/she is there for and is the pups best chance for survival.
