I have a 16.5 HP briggs and Stratton (model 313777) in my tractor. The connecting rod broke and punched holes in the casing. I need to rebuild the engine. Does anyone know where I could get a good book to do this? It must contain specs of the motor and maybe step by step instructions on how to take it apart and put it back together.

Um, you would be better off ordering yourself a "short block" and come out cheaper I believe than to try and replace the broken housings and purchase the internal parts.

I already explored that route but the short block is worth $684. I can get a new motor for $850. I had the block repaired for $120 and got the rest of the parts needed for $150. All I need is the specs to put it back together. Thanks for your response.
