My lat period was June 23-28th. I started spotting July 30 and still occurring. I took a home pregnancy test along with a blood test and both are negative. Does anyone know what else it could be if I am not pregnant.

Hi dear.
First and foremost - PLEASE see a doctor or nurse practitioner.
If this is the first time and you 'expected' to get pregnant, you just might have been, but it did not implant. This is one of the possibilities. No unexpected bleeding or spotting should last more than one week without you seriously seeing someone to take care of the problem and getting reassurance.
Let us know what the doc said.

Are you on any form of birth control? This could be the source of your spotting. So the spotting has been occurring for about two weeks now? Is it spotting, or just lighter then usual bleeding? Since the hpt and blood test turned out negative, your chances of pregnancy are pretty low. The only other step would be a qualatative blood test that would check for the actual level of hcg in your system. The test would be repeated to see if the numbers were doubling as they should in a normal healthy pregnancy, if the first test revealed the numbers to be high enough to suspect a possible pregnancy. However, its not uncommon to be late, or completely skip a cycle now and then. Sometimes our hormones just throw us through a loop. Our cycles are surprisingly sensitive. The littlest thing can throw them off.(sickness, stress, change in exercise/daily routine, medication, etc. even living in the same house with another female could throw off your cycle, because your hormones react to each other. Happened to me and my sister all the time) I was once late for my period for over two months, but it went back to normal and right back on schedule. All for no reason. So you never know. It wouldn't hurt to contact your doctor and ask them for advice, and suggestions on how long you should let it go before coming to see them. They might say to give it another week, they might say come right in.

Just to update on this... saw my doc today and he did an exam.. all seem well. He put me on prometrium to stop the "bleeding" and wait for a period then to start clomid for 5 days. We have three rounds of clomid to take... so hopefully this will work. No real answer to what caused the spotting though... at leaast nothing serious this time around. I hope everyone is well. Thnks for the responses.

Glad to hear that all went well, and you found your answers. Most likely the spotting was just a fluke. Good luck with the clomid, please keep us updated
