I really need help >.<
this is the whole question:
Triangle NQP is an equilateral triangle with the measure of angle N = 5x-2y and the measure of angle P = x+2y. Find the values of x and y. Show all work to receive credit.
just lead me in the right deriection.. or give me one clue.. cause I lost my notes and I wasn't in school for that class

FYI - the rules here prevent people from answering the question for you. If you show that you have tried to do some work, people will be more willing to tell you if you are headed in the right direction :)

You guys are a bit mean. At least the original asker didn't demand answers and only asked for a hint. You guys are ganging up on people.

I haven't done a problem like this one since... well, probably before your parents were born. One of my teachers in grade school (the teacher I had for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades -- four-room country school) told us to ALWAYS draw a picture. So that's what I did for your problem. You draw a picture too. It will help you figure out what to do next. Good luck!

Well drawing a picture like wondergirl said will help you see the problem more clearly. After you've done this, jot down what you know about the problem. EPQUILateral triangle... what are the properties of these types of triangles... look in your text if you can't remember. I hope this helps a bit without giving it away, good luck.

Here's a big hint.
The three angles of an equilateral triangle must each be 60 degrees.
5x-2y=60
x+2y=60
Solve for x and y.
