My drugstore gave me metoprolol succ er for my regular prescription of toprol xl - the pills are different shape - and I am not sure they are the same? Are they?

Is metoprolol succ er the same medicine as toprol xl ?

Metoprolol is the generic verision of toprol xl

Yes, they are exactly the same, one is the name brand, the other is the generic.

Is this your blood pressure med? It is a Beta Blocker.

Yes, they are the same. It is a Beta Blocker, anti-hypertensive/anti-anginal.

I believe we already answered that for you.

Metoprolol succ er is the generic form of Toprol xl. Check with your doctor, just in case!
