I keep seeing that in order to go from Blonde to Brown or vice versa, you need to put red back into the hair (filling it)... but what shade red. There are a ton of red tones out there... any ideas?
Thanks
H.

You should probably consider consulting with your hair professional about this one.

Try using an auburn or reddish brown shade first, then you can apply your desired color.

Thanks for your tip... should I use a semi or permanent auburn/red brown color prior to putting my desired color on?

If you want the color to last in your hair... go with permanent hair colors. But if you don't want to use permanent colors, you can choose semi-permanent colors, which eventually washes out.

OK... I guess another thing that worries me... by putting the red (filler) on prior to the final color... will the red show up in the final color? I really don't want to see a hint of red in my hair... and if being outside sometimes the light shines and shows red...
I see other people with a ver nice shade of brown with no red tones at all... and when the light shines on their hair it has more lighther brown with blonde tones)

When you apply your desired color, it will cover the red tones in your hair. You can also use an ash brown color instead of a regular brown. A green-base ash hair color will neutralize unwanted red tones. Good luck.
