My ex-husband and I were divorced in January 2007 and he was ordered to pay a settlement (a lump sum buyout) on July 26, 2007. He is refusing to pay based on the fact that he is trying to sell the house we lived in and doesn't have the money. I have been told that I can take him back to court for contempt, but if he chooses to pay before I get him in front of a Judge, I won't get my attorney fee's back that I had to pay for the contempt charges. My question is, can I put a lien on our house so that when he sells the home I can get a check from the title company that closes the house deal instead of waiting for him to decide to cut me a settlement check?
