Hi

Any one has experience in 1040-X filing. My employer screwed up my FICA taxes ( SS and Medicare), for last year, as I transitioned from a OPT to H-1B. Now after repeated requests, they recognized the error and are issuing me a W-2C for last year, the only difference being the extra taxes I paid now.

Do any of the tax experts here know that in such a case, will filing on federal 1040-X suffice, or should I also do my state tax filings again?

Regards

You need file a Form 1040X ONLY IF the amount in Box #1 and/or #2 of the W-2C is different from the original W-2. If there is no difference, or the difference is less than $200, then there is no need to file a Form 1040X.

Same logic for the state tax information at the bottom of the W-2C and W-2.

To tell for sure, I would need to review both the W-2 and the W-2C.
