My ac just went off. I turn on the heat and it did not come on. I turn the fan to on and it did not come on. I checked the breaker and it was OK. I have a trane xe 1000 ac system and a trane xl 80 gas furnace. I have no knowledge of heating and ac. I call for help and cannot get anyone out here until Monday. It is 97 degrees outside. Please help.

Do you have a digital display on it ? Look in the furnace for a fuse , it will be on the printed circuit board ,a automotive type fuse about 3 amps.
Did you have the furnace panel or door off recently? There is a safety switch on the panel and nothing will work if this is not put back on properly.

I double checked the panel door and it was secure. When I took the door off I held in the button and nothing happened. I do not know where the fuse panel is on this system. I will see if I can pull up a diagram.

It sounds like you don't have any power at the furnace either 24 volt or 115volt try plugging in a lamp where the furnace is plugged in that will tell if the furnace is getting primary voltage , now you will have to look in the control panel of the furnace and see if you can find this fuse OR you can check the transformer with a volt meter (you could have a bad transformer. Also when you have the furnace unplugged you can look for burnt or loose wires in the furnace.

Searched the control panel and could not find any fuses, all I see are wires. There is no where to uplug the furnace. Checked wires and found none loose or burnt. Did change the thermostat and the system is still dead. Could not find a fuse or board. It appears that the wires are wired directly and therefore there is no board.

You might have a float switch on your system it would be located on your drain line or inside your drip pan you will see two wires going down there to the control if you lift that up and your a/c comes on you just have a clogged line. If you don't have one of those you definitely have a 24 volt problem probably your transformer if you replaced your thermostat already.

The control board is in the lower compartment with the blower, there will be a fuse on it like ace mentioned above, you need to start there.

Went outside to the fan Trane XE 1000 and the relay switch was stuck and the coil is very dirty. Moved the relay switch around some and it became unstuck. Turn power back in and system came on. Cut the power off and I am now going to try to clean the coil. Purchased King Coil cleaner for Lowe's. Any suggestions on how to clean the coil?

The best way is to make sure all your power is off,and geta garden hose, it is best to take the fan cover off and spray the coils from the inside out.

If you are doing the furnace coil they have some you just spray on and wait ten minutes then turn unit back on and it self rinses.

Thank you. Thank you for all the advice. I will use the water hose. I have already sprayed it, now I will use the water hose. Will post when complete to let you know that the house is cool.
