Pull the tank lid and check the water leve when the tank's fulll. It should be 1/2 inch below the white overflow tube. If the water level's correct then leave the tank top off and watch the float ball while someone turn on a cold water faucet and then shuts it off real fast. Did the float ball bob up and down and the ballcock make a noise? I want you to test the house pressure and let me know. Regards, Tom

I agree with speedball, and I have seen it that way. I also have had to slightly adjust a new prv [pressure reducing valve]. When you hear the noise, feel the prv. Is it vibrating? Is the main valve open completely?

We check the toilet and we took the inside apart there was a little trash in the pipe and we checked the pressure it was 42 so that is OK we have not heard the sound all day since we did the toliets we will know for sure in the morning that is when it is the loudest .Even though the prv is working can it still have trash in it that is causing the noise? And can we clean it out or do we have to buy another one ? Thanks for helping us

If the trash that you found in the ballcock was downstream of the washer,( in the supply to the ballcock you have located the culprit. Let us know if it comes back. The PRV may be opened and inspected if necessary, it doesn't have to be replaced. Wait and see. Regards, tom

Well when we flushed this morning it made the sound but it was very short and not as loud and no other water outlet has made a sound since yesterday morning so should we look at the prv for trash or is it just that toilet?
