Whirlpool washer LA 5600xs will not fill up. Only a trickle of water runs into the machine.

The fill valve is bad or has setiment in it. Pull the hoses off and check the screens ant both ends and make sure they are open. Also check the end of the water valve to see if screens (if there) are clean. Unlpug unit and check the valve electrical terminals for continuity.
