This video has scared me a lot. Is this true? I want people to see this and tell me what the hell is going on with the world... I'm a first year Politics student and everything I'm learning is confirming this shame: http://youtube.com/watch?v=eCL6WdnuNp4

First, what you are referring to is a one-sided political view of the Israel-Palestine war; to call it a conflict is simply misleading.

Secondly, war is hell and if you want to get a grip on the political realities you must set aside your apparent moral indignation and face the alternatives; just what are the alternatives? What are the alternatives for Israel, and what are the alternatives for the Palestinians.

You tell me… what alternative Israel has? Now tell me the alternatives the Palestinians have?

If you plan on entering politics you damm-well better learn to look at the situation in the light of alternatives.

Yes it is a one sided view, but it's the side that I have never in my life ever seen. I have seen the side that every one keeps talking about and posting about, but I've never in my entire life seen this side of it. This what scares me. This side has been covered up or never talked about? I'm scared and don't know what to think. Though, thanks for your posting, Dark_crow.

The firewalls on my computer prevent me from seeing the video. Can you run down the main points for me so that I can refute them with facts?

What scares you about it?

I watched the first 5 minutes of this propaganda piece. If you have never seen this side, its because you haven't paid attention. Its true and not covered up, that Israel has controlled the occupied area with an iron fist. But, as Dark Crow asks, what are the alternatives? The Palestines have, in the past, avowed their goal to wipe out Israel. They appear to have no desire to peacefully co-exist. To this end, they have killed thousands of Israelis in terroists attacks. So Israel protects its citizens as best they can.

Does this series of propaganda mention that Israel forced many of its citizens out of their homes to turn those lands over to Palestinians? Does it talk about the missiles daily aimed at Israeli targets from Palestinian camps? Does it talk about the hardline stance against Israel taken by Palestinians and their leadership?

.

Elliot-

Read my reply on the other post concerning the video. It starts passing on a very important fact. Then it quickly takes liberty to distort history with attempts to cover it up by throwing in a few smoke grenades by hiring supposed reasonable unbiased people. These interviewed "humanitarians," of course, don't present whole scenarios for the IDF's actions.

Scott, thanks for adding those lines about what brutal things the palestinians do. I'm not sure if I made myself clear, but I have been very aware that Arabs/Muslims/Palestinians are evil and terrorist-like people (I mean I have heard this over and over again these past years from almost every adult I have met, my family, and have seen it on television). Maybe you're trying to get me to see that both sides are plain propaganda? I mean, that while the American Media glorifies Israel, it's propaganda... and so this video I posted that shows the Palestinian side is also propaganda (for choosing a side)? Is this why you started to mention the evils of the Palestinians? I'm not sure what you were trying to bring to light. Again, I'm pretty naïve and have realized this, so please enlighten me. And don't get annoyed if I pick at everything you say, because I'm trying to de-confuse myself.

I'm not saying the Palestinians are evil. You seem to want everything to be neatly black and white. But reality is often shades of grey. The major problem with propaganda like that video is it works to justify the Palestinian hatred of Israel and prolongs any possibilities of peace. You need to try and read between the lines. You can't accept everything anyone says as gospel. You need to extract the facts from all reports and then make your own judgements.

That video did not stir hate in Israel for me. Nothing can. But it does stir hate in me for people who commit crimes, whether they are from Israel or Palestine. I have to admit, up till this year, I thought that Israelis were not doing any crimes, but, you are right ScottGem, researching will show that the world is not "black and white" as I had thought, and is pretty grey. I was naïve. There is mischief on both parts.
