My fiancé and I want to get married without the big hooplah and expense. Problem is, I have searched and searched and cannot find any answers on who to call, where to go, cost, etc. How do I set this thing up??

***EDIT*** Sorry, I forgot to add we live in Missouri.

The cost depends on where you live, I believe. My husband and I got married in the courthouse, and all we did was go down to our county courthouse, fill out a bunch of paperwork, and had a little "ceremony" right there.

It depends on your county courthouse to actually perform the ceremony.

Applying for a Marriage License in Missouri (http://marriage.about.com/cs/marriagelicenses/p/missouri.htm)

Once you apply and get the marriage license, the courthouse will list either open times to arrange a for a judge to marry you, or you could schedule a time/date with a judge. Google your county courthouse (Ex: Orange County, CA) and it will probably lead you to more information on their site.
If nothing comes up, just inquire by phone (check courthouse or county clerk's office in the phone book) or in person when you pick up your marriage license.

I hope that helps :)
