I do random things, especially with my wedding last month (pomander, shower guestbook, painted some decorations, etc.)

I mostly enjoy wood painting, sewing, and jewelry making. :)

I am learning to quilt... but Im learning by hand, so Im quickly becoming frustrated... ;)
I make crafts for Christmas. We like to give homemade gifts, last year I made painings, this year will be blankets probably... in the past ai made soaps, candles, scented oils, bath salts... etc. I try to match the item to the person receiving it. The candles were fun. I matched scents to people... it was hilarious when everyone started passing them around.

I like to paint and add my own touches to food containers and flower vases. Then I fill them and give them to people.

I have also just gotten into candle making.

By the way. Have you tried crocheting and knitting wire bracelets and necklaces? (With the crochet hook and knitting needles.)

I am no expert in any craft, I dabble a little in one or the other... :p

Painting (expecially acrylics)
Sometimes fabirc painting too (the odd t shirt... )
Handmade cards
Sew (a little)
Embroidery (when I have the time and patience)
Bead work (still trying... )
Now learning to make party favours (not really make but packing them in beautifull wrappings in different themes)

And hopefully learn new crafts as I go along...

If you have ideas do please share... :D

I like to make small musical instrument kits. One of them would be thumb pianos. There are over 1,000 of them made by kids in the vicinity where I live. I make all of the parts and the kids put them together. They are worth about $60.00 - $75.00 each. No kid has ever had to pay a cent for one of them.

Clough, what in the heck is this art that you mention? I am constantly amazed at what the human being can come up with in the field of arts and crafts! How do you go about learning this art? Where does it originate?

Hi again, UsBlkgal!

Information and images about thumb pianos can be found on the following links:

Thumb Piano - Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=Thumb+Piano)

Thumb Piano - Google Image Search (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&safe=off&q=Thumb+Piano&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi)

It originates with a desire to help others to understand about music and musical instruments and for one to find a way to achieve that goal.

Over many years, I have been teaching students about multi-cultural music. I have found that the thumb piano is one of the ideal instruments in which to show similarities as well as diversities between instruments contained in boxes and/or resonating chamber, as evolved from the basic drum which came from a hide stretched across a hollow tree trunk. Centuries later, it evolved into the marching drum, banjo, guitar, instruments of the violin family, etc. The list is almost endless.

I had trouble making my kits at first when I started this nearly twenty years ago. But, thanks to a friend who is a former junior high woodworking teacher, I was finally able to mass produce the parts for the kits.

Basically the thumb pianos that I make are a rectangular box. Then you have a bridge on which metal tangents of a certain length are placed. The metal tangents are held in place with some screws through another piece of wood above the bridge. I am trying to make this simple as far as a description, but it is hard to do. But, I think that you will get the idea of basically how they look if you go to link to the image search that I have provided above.

I love woodworking! Basically, they are masterpieces (If I might brag a little!) made of junk! You can find damaged pieces of paneling that are ideal to use for the tops and bottoms of them, then you cut them to the size that you want. Inexpensive wood lathe planned down so that it is almost smooth works great for the sides. You can get oak for the bridge and fixture above it, from discarded pallets, that you just plane down and then cut to the sizes that you need.

The metal tangents for the notes are made from blued, polished spring steel. Making them is the hardest part of this whole process, because all of the notes must be individually cut and shaped accordingly so that they don't scratch the fingers when they are being plucked. The thumb pianos that I make are tuned diatonically, therefore, we can play pieces that we can recognize on them. (Guess who gets to tune the hundreds of notes when making a batch of the kits for a few classes?)

The kids learn how to use a screwdriver, (righty-tighty, lefty-loosey) sand, and also paint as well as being educated about the evolution of musically instruments according to the cultural traditions from which they have evolved. This has been a great experience for many that has involved art, shop and music teachers all at once. It is interdisciplinary as well as a sharing of the teaching talents of many people. A great way to get various departments working together towards one goal.

The same thing can be done with simple dulcimers.

I love to dabble in paint-on anything, on fabrics for wearable art for instance. Or sometimes because an article of clothing is the wrong color. I love naturecrafts, dried flowers, twig wreaths, vases. Papercrafts, handmade papercasts. Edible art, sugar decorations for cakes etc. Lately I am making succulent plant mosaics. I have done commercial art, murals for church, etc. But mostly I just have fun with whatever comes to mind. Seeing something beautiful and pricey in a shop is the BEST inspiration.

I just saw a thumb piano on the internet site of a company called: "Lark in the Morning". Of course I have seen them before but never so many different shapes! I have been buying ethcnic musical instruments from all over the world. I.E. I bought an autoharp and an e flat cornet! (I have played trumpet for thirty-six yrs and have never seen or played something so so strange!) Anyway I saw all kinds of things. I.E. A African Musical instrument, a story tellers drum, a Zulu cocoon rattles, and an ocean harp to name a few.

I have some new instruction books on wire crochet and wire knitting books! You can actually use some of the knitting needles and crochet hooks. But alas, I can't seem to find the time to utilize them. The photos in the books look cool and extremely unique! The stitches are basic stitches too, by the way.

I am sure that what you make and draw are very precious, mysteryperson123! If you are expressing yourself in various ways, be it in an art of whatever kind, such as a crafting or other way, such as music, drawing, dance, theater, poetry, etc. then you are expressing and exhibiting something that is from your heart. It is also a way of sharing with other people. Oftentimes, it might be hard to express in words what might be better to be able to understand what someone is meaning because of the way that it is expressed as a creation of some kind by the individual.

It is likely that there will be a thread started soon for the sharing of artistic ideas, inspirations, thoughts, critiques, helpful information and works of many varieties and kinds again here such as happened on The Artist in you! Thread. It would be an all-inclusive thread.

It would be super if you could post images of some of what you have done on it! Of course, you could also post some images on this thread or on a thread that you might start yourself.

Hi there! Since you wrote of your interest in Thumb Piano's, thought I would post this one I painted. I took a class so pattern is not my own. Hey there Starty! The plates don't have to be clear, it is just what I started using since I put all the paint on the back of the plate so food can be served on plain glass. I purchased some glasses at Pottery Barn for $2.00 apiece which I loved. I posted at least one of those I think earlier on another art thread. Did you see it? It had almost like prisms in the clear glass and was on a stem with a cobalt blue circle handle.

The plates I use are just heavier than I like. I hand paint some, doing reverse painting on the back. Other's I have used Victorian prints from past Calendars I have had. Each year, I usually get one for Christmas by the same artist. I have used Christmas wrapping paper, some tissue wrapping paper, applied with just Elmer's Glue. I sometimes use Gold Leaf in the tube, get a dab on my finger and go around the edges of the plate. On the ones I just use paint (Acrylic Glossies), after it dries, I put in an oven, low heat for 20 minutes or so. I always put at least two coats of Polycrylic on the back of the plate. I also put a note (if giving as a gift) that these are not dishwasher safe but can be safely washed and hand dried but should not sit in water.

When I worked outside the home, I gave the plates as Christmas gifts to co-workers, depending on their likes, hobbies, etc. to family members and other friends. I have never put them in my art shows I do because I do only "Fine Art" shows for my pencils but maybe one day, when I have more time, I will enter craft shows and show them there. Because of time constraints, I have even cut out other art shows and only do one a year now. Hopefully later! :)

EDIT:: I probably should mention that I would not sale the plates that I use the calendar pictures on, just give as gifts. I wouldn't use another artists work even from a calendar for profit. Every surface can be an artists canvas so I would do original work if I were going to sell them.

I am anxious for you to be able to post your work. I think I am missing something wonderful!

I always encourage everyone to take photos of their work. I wish you had. I use to decorate cakes. That is when I began taking photos of all my cakes and other work. Once those cakes are at the party, zingo, they are gone, gone, gone. Well, except for the one I made my brother. It was in the shape of an airplane. He had just gotten his pilot's license and he would not cut the cake! It was his birthday cake for goodness sakes. LOL They put it in their freezer and ate it the next year on his birthday.

As with any art work or craft, they take hours to make and little time to devour or take away to a new home. Once I give them though, I just say enjoy. Mother never wanted to cut the cakes I made. I told her that is why I made them "TO EAT"! But it is a nice compliment. :)

I don't think I knew you had lived in Alaska. What an adventure! :p

If you are painting on the bottom of the plate, don't you have to think like backward or something so that certain things will look correct when viewed from the front of the plate?

Every surface can be an artists canvas so I would do original work if I were going to sell them.

Yepper, you have to do what is called "reverse painting". It makes my brain tired to do it but I hang in there and do it from time to time. :p

I am no genius in any way, shape or form, but I have to admit, I use to be laying in bed and just before going to sleep, maybe 2:00 in the morning, a poem would come to me. I kept a pencil beside my bed and wrote it in the dark on the wall by my bed... too tired to get up! Then I would copy it the next morning onto paper. Well, the last time I painted my bedroom, I made the decision to stop doing that... not a good example for the children! LOL ;)

I am posting a few of my plates. The first one was done using just wrapping paper and tissue wrapping paper with gold leaf around the edge. The leaves had to be painted on prior to adding the wrapping paper with roses. The second one was done using a picture from a Victorian Calendar and the third was done as a gift for a friend at work using Christmas wrapping paper. The dots were done prior to painting the rest of the background color. The fourth plate was also done as a gift for a co-worker. She collected and loved starfish, dolphins, all kinds of things from the sea, little items used to line the top of her cubicle at work. The is all just paint and had to do some using "reverse painting". I hope you enjoy viewing them. They are rewarding to me to make. There is a great feeling of accomplishment for me when I finish one of these. They are unusual and useable since you can serve food in the plate, as there is no paint in the inside of the plate.

Thanks Starty! Don't know about versatile, just one of those people who are a "jack of all trades and master of none"! I do a few of one craft but tire of them after a bit and have to try something else. I do appreciate the compliment though very much! :p You gave me a lift to my day!

One thing I forgot to mention earlier is to wash the plate then wipe down area you are going to be painting on with denatured alcohol or I have just used Windex. This just removes any oils from handling the plate, so the paint adheres really well.

Let me know anytime you have a question. I will be more than happy to answer any thing I am able to! LOL

jrebel7

One big question, do you paint on top of the plate after you adhere the paper to the back?

No, all painting is done on the underside or backside of the plate. Any thing you see, such as with the roses plate, is painted on the back of the plate, prior to the paper being glued to the back. The gold leaves around the border are done with acrylic "Emperor Gold" I believe. I will check that name of paint and if the name is not correct, I will get back with you. Any dots you see, such as the gold ones on the Santa Plate is done first, then the paper is applied. :)

The tropical plate, you have to do air bubbles, stripes, etc. first, then after all are painted and dry, paint the back of the plate with the color or your choice.

I paint cakes
I bake them, ice in fondant icing then trace on whatever [from a Kiltie dancing with his kilt cought in his belt showing a bare bum] to princesses etc and the world's your oyster. I search the internet for pictures of motorbikes cars superheros and have done sunsets too. All painted with food colouring. I have the Rainbows anniversary to do this month with the badge /logo. If any one wants advice it is easy if you are artistic. Designer cakes! tried to add a photo but didn't work

For the benefit of all and in keeping with the intent of this site, it would be best if images could be posted on the site. I know just the person who could help you, louisglenda, and that would be jrebel7. I will let her know about your post.

We are all looking forward to seeing your images!

Hi there! As requested I will gladly share instructions on how to post images. I am an "A to Z" person so forgive if these instructions sound too elementary. I have to have a step by step for myself.

Once you have scanned your photos, save them as a .jpg file on your computer. You should have a file perhaps “MY PICTURES" where you can save images. You will see “My Documents”, “My Music”, “My Pictures”, etc. Best to save in "My Pictures" as a .jpg file.

To Resize: Bring up "MY PICTURES" folder where your image is saved. Left click on image once (this chooses it, does not open it) then right click on it. Run your cursor over "OPEN WITH", it should show you several choices...if you see Microsoft Photo Editor, left click to open. Your image will show up in that program on your screen. At the top of that screen, you will see File, Edit, View, Image, etc. Left click on IMAGE, it should have a drop down box giving options, left click on "RESIZE" There will be a box that appears that shows the size of your image. On the right side it will show UNITS.....on the drop down box you can choose inches or pixels, choose pixels. On this site, when you choose "GO ADVANCED", that is where you can add the image and to do so, the image cannot be larger than 750 pixels. (You can use most any photo program to resize).

Once you have done this, PLEASE go to “File” and choose "SAVE AS"...you can name that image the same as original but add the word at the end as “resized”. That way you retain the larger image but also have one you can post. If you want the image to be fairly large, you can go with the 750 pixels, I have used 600 but generally choose 400. That is just personal preference. Make sure the largest dimension whether height or width does not exceed 750 pixels.

If I have not left out a step in the instructions, this should allow you to resize your image to allow you to post using "Go Advanced" on the "Answer this Question" box in which I am typing.

Ok, I am operating on the assumption that you have now resized your photo, saved it in a file folder and are ready to post.

On "Answer this Question: click on "Go Advanced". Type whatever description, discussion or details you want the viewer to see in the first box then scroll down (do not submit yet), you will see “Additional Options” the first part will have boxes with check marks in them. Make sure the first three are checked. Scroll down, the next box will say "Manage Attachments". Left click on that. A box will come up that says "Manage Attachments" First box will say upload file from your computer with a "Browse Button". Left click on Browse button. Box will come up: Choose File
Look in: (on this one, you scroll to find the folder that holds your image, open it, then left click to select image you have resized. Click Open. It will place the information of location of said image, Left Click on upload. Wait just a few moments. When it is finished, X out that screen, you will be on "Additional Options" area and it will show just above where it says "Manage Attachments" which file you just attached. Then Scroll down, left click "Submit Answer". This should then show text you typed in first box and below that, image you selected and uploaded. I sure hope I haven't left out a step. If I have, we can get back on track another way. I will help in anyway I can.

It took me awhile and the patience of other posters helping me to learn how to post images. Best to you! If this seems a little confusing, I suggest you copy and past to a Word Document and then print it out. Refer to it (provided I got it typed crorectly) as you go. :)

Sweet Dreams tonight and Happy Mother's Day to you also!

As my sister and I teasingly say "Kug, Kug, Hiss Hiss!" LOL :p We had been going through stuff at our parents house and were so extremely tired. I was leaving and was going to say, "Hug Hug Kiss Kiss!" But the words just didn't flow. It has now become our salutation!!

(Just a note: I was getting ready to order a new comptuer but my son said it would come with Vista and there were several having problems. Not wanting to discourage you. He just said if I ordered a new computer, he would wipe the drive clean (if that is correct terminology as I am not a computer savvy person) and put what I have now back on it.

I haven't tagged any of my pictures and in Windows Vista photo gallery I brought up picture I wanted in Microsoft Pictures manager
in the toolbar left click EDIT PICTURES
choose TASK PANE click on resize

There is a long box above the pixels box clock on it and a drop down list will have WEB SMALL [390x448?]
click on it you will see your picture change size and remember to SAVE it before exiting.
I will do another now just to get used to it. It will be on another answer though.

Sorry to be bombarding you with pictures but want to try this again This time it wouldn't go to the WEB SMALL size [wrong shape I think] so I reduced it using the % box and saved it
This one was just done on a piece of icing then put on the cake. I don't sell these just make them for friends and family.

Here goes :you can buy a cake in the supermarket if you are not a baker and if you want any recipes just ask.Take the piped icing off the top of the bought cake to make it flat. Use plenty of icing sugar and roll out fondant icing making it big enough to cover the top of the cake or the whole cake if you want. Wet the original icing with cold water so the new icing will stick to it. Lift it over the cake and smooth on, cut to size, I crimp the edges but you can do marks with a fork or anything. Rub the palm of your hand over the icing to remove excess icing sugar and to smooth it.
I use greaseproof paper to trace a design make sure it's the right size for the cake.
[two upturned mugs and a piece of wood laid across them is good for leaning on so that you don't dent the icing while working on it] Place yout tracing on the cake and using a pen I use one that is empty, go over the drawing and try not to dig in too much, you don't put the ink on to the cake just the indents of the shape. Try to have a light behind the cake so that you can see the shape when you paint it. This is best done asap after icing it as the icing goes hard and will crack when you trace on it. Using a fine paintbrush and food colouring which can be mixed and diluted with drips of water to get the right shade start painting. Always blot the brush before painting as 2 or 3 layers of colour is better than one that is too rich and too wet. If you make a mistake put water on your brush and wet the mistake then put a plain new paper tissue over it to soak up the colour and do it again. Once done DON'T put the cake in the fridge as the colouring goes wet but keep it out of direct light as it will fade a wee bit.
Good luck
Why not try it on just a piece of icing to practice. My 8 year old grand daughter tried it and did really well. The sky is the limit you can do anything! Hope this is OK any questions just ask

Thanks! That one is cute and becoming of you and is much better than a cartoon character that you had. I have thought about an avatar for me, but haven't really decided. Was thinking about one that might be about Beethoven, but just haven't done it yet. Months ago, I did compile some pictures of Beethoven that I thought might be cool to use as an avatar.

Someone who has recently joined, and is providing excellent answers, is using the avatar that's exactly the same that nauticalstar420 originally used on this site. So, it's gotten a little confusing...

Just in my opinion, I think that people who have been around awhile here and also have an elevated status of some kind that it would be good that, if they use an avatar of some kind, that it would be something that is professional and truly exemplifies what they are about on this site

But, that's just my opinion...

:o

Thank you for the kind words clough, and for touching up my image.

Shiny is tough to photograph :D

For my next project, I was thinking about painting a piece of plexi glass, and engraving a mirrored image of my drawing. Then I could mount it to a nice piece of wood, and make the clock(or whatever... maybe just a pretty wall hanging) that way. If I really wanted to get creative with that method, I could make a full color image, by cutting all of 1 color, then spraying it. Then the next, etc.. etc.. etc..

Since getting into art with my machining program, I have created this (http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/rr230/bluechipperphotos/flag2.jpg) image for a plasma cutter(or routerfor wood) as well.(ever seen those "sillhouettes" in peoples yard? )

I haven't cut it, and don't know if I ever will, but I bet I could sell these.

Also, have you ever seen lithopanes (http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/rr230/bluechipperphotos/jesus_cried2.jpg)??

To stave off any confusion, that is not my work... just an image I found on the web to show you what I am talking about... the words at the bottom of the image will take you to that guys showcase(website) if you proceed them with www. And then follow them with a dotcom.

Those are really cool. What that is is a piece of plastic carved out 3 dimensionally, thin enough to make it opaque. Then it is backlit, and appears almost black and white. Really detailed work though, and I don't know if my talents would be up to snuff for that... I'll keep you guys posted!

I like this kind of "work" I wish I knew how to turn it into a full time thing. Lots of starving artists out there though... I'd better stick to making parts to put food on the table ehhh.

Clough,

Thanks for asking.
The bossman almost cried when he looked in the giftbox and said something like "I can't believe such a fine piece of art has come out of my shop."(the photo hardly represents the quality justly) He went on and on about the hidden talents possessed in our atmosphere, and how we are going to start looking into ways to exploit these talents in a way we can all enjoy.(We have a couple of very talented wood working hobbyists on payroll as well)

We have done some extensive research into different applications of combining artwork into our machine shop. The most impressive piece we have looked into is a laser. They are pretty neat and versatile machines with controlability unfounded. One can either cut right through a piece of 3/4 inch steel, or just burn(or etch) .02 inches into the surface of... say an inkpen. I'm glad I was able to talk the kind folks at work into pitching in for that $100.00 clock. That was the cost for the aluminum($76.00), and the high end clock movement($22.00) used on the clock above. No markups on anything, that is the cost for manufacturing excluding labor.

As business men, we are wise enough to see that you can't go out and invest that kind of money into a piece that you would be lucky to convince one or two people out of thousands to purchase(Not many folks would buy a hundred dollar clock, when they can get one for ten bucks at the local Wally-world),but that with enough thought, we could get the initial costs down(different materials... plastics or wood... etc), then with the proper marketing could possibly transgress into full time art work... from engraving some woman's husbands name into his new barbecue utensils... to a 5' x 10' custom cut scene for a wought iron gate(on the higher end).

This could actually pan out with enough digging, and the proper investments.

So far, I have lots of artsy pictures I have created, but as the initial cost for materials I was working with is so outrageous, have not made anything but the two clocks(+1 that I never got a photo of now four state lines away:( ) I have shown on this board. Eventually, however, we are planning on a website and everything promoting our custom engraving workshop. However, a more proper term... more descriptive for our actual services will be in order. I don't even know what to actually call what we'll offer... perhaps I will start another thread for suggestions (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/other-arts-leisure/what-would-good-name-new-business-298153.html#post1459086)... (kinda tough to pin a name to we can make eveything out of anything)

The bossman almost cried when he looked in the giftbox and said something like "I can't believe such a fine piece of art has come out of my shop."(the photo hardly represents the quality justly) He went on and on about the hidden talents posessed in our atmosphere, and how we are going to start looking into ways to exploit these talents in a way we can all enjoy.(We have a couple of very talented wood working hobbyists on payroll as well)

We have done some extensive research into different applications of combining artwork into our machine shop. The most impressive piece we have looked into is a laser. They are pretty neat and versatile machines with controlability unfounded. One can either cut right through a piece of 3/4 inch steel, or just burn(or etch) .02 inches into the surface of ....say an inkpen. I'm glad I was able to talk the kind folks at work into pitching in for that $100.00 clock. That was the cost for the aluminum($76.00), and the high end clock movement($22.00) used on the clock above. No markups on anything, that is the cost for manufacturing excluding labor.

As business men, we are wise enough to see that you can't go out and invest that kind of money into a piece that you would be lucky to convince one or two people out of thousands to purchase(Not many folks would buy a hundred dollar clock, when they can get one for ten bucks at the local Wally-world),but that with enough thought, we could get the initial costs down(different materials...plastics or wood...etc), then with the proper marketing could possibly transgress into full time art work...from engraving some womans husbands name into his new barbecue utensils....to a 5' x 10' custom cut scene for a wought iron gate(on the higher end).

However, a more proper term...more descriptive for our actual services will be in order. I don't even know what to actually call what we'll offer....perhaps I will start another thread for suggestions (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/other-arts-leisure/what-would-good-name-new-business-298153.html#post1459086)....(kinda tough to pin a name to we can make eveything out of anything)

Hey, Randy!

You've got a good head on your shoulders and brilliant plans to match! I'll check out your other thread sometime soon! I'm sure that you're a real boon to your employer!

Unfortunately, because of the time frame for threads here, it appears that this one concerning crafts isn't appearing in the general posts anymore but only to those of us who've already posted on it and those who happen to go to the Crafts forum topic area of this site.

I'm going to start a new thread about What Are You're Crafts? 2 so that we can have some new life here, especially with new folks that have joined the site.

Take care...

Thanks!

Hi, polly123!

Would you like to show any images of things that you've done on this thread? Or, maybe a new thread that will start soon, because this one is now archived?

Thanks!

Hey polly! I love a good seamstress;)
Clough, what does that mean, does it mean that only people that have been on this thread before can see that someone has posted? I thought I saw someone write that in the forum discussions... not too sure though.
AND when is it that your new high speed internet is going to be installed? Heehee;)

Hello, Clough and startover... don't have any images to post at this time... I think sewing is a dying art and with 30+ yrs of experience, mostly for the public, as in owing and operating an alteration and sewing shop, most of my work has gone to clients.. I do my own projects as well but it is more than a hobby and the experience is here if needed.

Hi, startover22!

Yes, it means that this thread is now old enough that it's now archived and will not be showing up on the "open" (new) pages of this site. Although, since I made it a sticky some time ago, it does show up at the front of the Crafts forum topic area. Someone needs to go to the Crafts forum topic area to be able to notice it, though.

Anyone who has posted on it and has subscribed to it, should get an email notification when someone posts on it. But, for all practical purposes, it is no longer a "live" thread.

I hope that explains how it works to you!

Thanks!

Hey, Start! I'm now high-speed! A son of an elderly friend of mine gave me a gift of a WI-FI connector. It's working, and I'm one happy camper now because I'm zipping around the Internet very easily! :D

No problem with major downloads of videos, etc. It's just great! :)

Hi, polly123!

I would assume that with your experience, that you have some knowledge of old and newer sewing machines, as well as some knowledge concerning the possible monetary value of them.

Would that be correct?

Thanks!

This thread is no longer visible to the general public unless someone happens to go to the forum topic area.

Hi, startover22!

Did you start a vegetable garden again this year?

Thanks!

startover22
Jun 29, 2009, 08:51 PM
Yes, but it is 30 by 30 and needs lots of loving care... ONE BIG bath tub with my peas in it, and three huge gigantic beds with all sorts of great goodies in them... two others one is empty and the other is full of long beans for Nana... I have room for four more, but in order to get the gator through we are going to add just two more. Lots of work and lots of fencing... hard work, but well worth it! How are you Clough?

Clough
Jun 29, 2009, 08:56 PM
You've got a lot more space than I do for a vegetable garden. Mine's only about 6' x 25'.

Thanks for asking how I am! I had been in the hospital a couple of months ago. I don't know if you knew that...

I had some sort of seizure this past Tuesday night in the middle of my barbershop chorus rehearsal. I seem to be better, but there's some issues still with which to deal...

How are you?

Thanks!

I knew and sent hugs in a different thread for you...
I am sorry for all the yucky stuff Clough, you are loved and cared about here. You keep your health up,OK?
I think you should post a song on YouTube so we all can here what you all do.
I am great and loving the beginning of summer. Winter was crazy awful... and I am ready to get rid of all that! Hugs Clough, I got to git going now but will update;)

Okay, I remember now...

There's may be a piece or more posted sometime on You Tube and/or on our Bend of the River Chorus site of me directing my barbershop chorus.

I've found a way to have sound files stored on other sites. There are some recordings of me that I should be able to put easilly on those sites as long as I have a good enough connection to the Internet.

You're so sweet and loved very much, startover22!

Thank you so much!

I enjoy doing tapestries, knitting for others, not really cafty - but being with my goats.

I would love to be able to paint - the thoughts are there but the eye and hand are not - perhaps as I mature more, and have more time for me it will come to me.

I used to sew, still can, but the children are too big now and life is too hectic.

Would mowing the grass be considered a craft ( make the field look good, put paterns on the lawn)?

Hi, 3-2-1!

I'm sorry that know one has yet come along to address your post! It does sound like you have a number of craft things going for you that you do!

If done in a certain way, yes, I would consider mowing grass, cutting hedges and trimming trees to be an art as well as a craft! Please think about some of the hedge gardens in England as well as how the grass is mowed in certain patterns for areas where certain sports, like baseball, are played.

Thanks!

I have never studied it, nor have I tried it at all.
I am so excited.
Belly dancing? Well, last year I wanted to do it, and was too late to sign up two times! This year it is different, I am on track with their meeting times and when it starts. I have always thought it was an interesting way of moving and feeling, don't you all think it is great?

Hi,
Something I just started... I found these mini picnic baskets (about 10 inches long) and I paint and decorate them with different themes. I découpage retro and pop art pictures and embellish with fun miniatures. I add "cartoon bubbles" with funny phrases and quotes. My friends use them as purses.

Hi, summer7!

I'm glad that you make and do those types of things! :) I'm going to start a new thread really soon about crafts. (To those who really "know" me here, I know that I've been promising to do that for some time. But, this time, it's for real!)

This thread is old and is now archived and is no longer visible on the daily posts pages. In order for someone to find the thread, they have to visit the forum topic area or be notified because they've already posted something on this thread.

We would love to see some images of your work, summer7! You might post some here and also on the new thread.

Thanks!

Hi, All!

I'm thinking of closing this thread because it's now so old.

It's archived and not generally visible, unless someone happens to got to this forum topic area or is notified because there's activity on the thread because they've already posted on it.

What do you think, please?

Thanks!
