View Full Version : Am I the father?

I'm going to keep this simple. I had sex with my ex girlfriend on April 2. This is the only time I had sex with her this year. She is now pregnant and claims I'm the father. I have accepted the role of parenthood and all the responsibilities that go with it. I am concerned however that I may not be the father. Her estimated due date is November 15. Any conception date calculator I use suggests that with that due date, the date of conception is late February. I know these predictions are not 100% accurate, but was expecting results that were closer. What are the chances this is not my child?

Going by the date of her last menstrual period is not an accurate method of detecting a due date, however it is not usually almost 2 months off. Your best bet would be to get a paternity test after the baby is born. :)

I would agree with nauticalstar... however you should accompany her to the next doctors appointment to see how far along she is.

Definitely. If she is lying about conceiving in April, the doctor can tell you the truth.

The only way to prove anything is when the baby is born get a DNA test

I agree. But if the doctor says she conceived in February rather than April, that is a good indicator that he is not the father, since he said April is the only time this year he had sex with her.

Thank you everyone for your input. It looks like a DNA test is the consensus if I want piece of mind.

Well did they give her a due date based on her last period or an ultrasound? If the doctor was a dumb a** and said when was your last period and gave her a due date based only on that you could be the father. This would be a medical misstate. It would mean the doctor gave her the wrong due date. She could have irregular periods. If that's what the ultrasound showed I would say you are not the father. I would still take a test if she pushes the issue.

I think the ultrasound is more accurate than the last menstrual period so go by that. Ask the doctor during the next appointment.
