Hello,

I am replacing an already existing ceiling fan with a new one. The old fan connected the blue and black wire of the fan to the ceiling, without using the black wire from the ceiling, which is currently capped with an electrical cap; it was connected with a pink wire from the ceiling. So do I connect the fan wires as they were? What does the pink wire indicate and why do my installation instructions not mention a pink wire?

Thank you

Hook up like old fan, Both will work together with switch if on one(Pink wire). The black wire may be hot all the time. May be able to hook fan(black) to ceiling Black, and light to
The pink wire, so it can be controlled by switch. Controlled by switch? Fan would be controlled by pull chain.

The pink wire is a switched hot, the black wire is possibly an unswitched hot. You can connect it like the only fan, you can also try blue to pink and black to black.
