Okay I'm going to admit from the beginning I have no idea about these things :o

This morning I installed the new Hunter Set & Save Programmable Thermostat (Model 44155C). It was really easy to install, the programing took a sec to figure out, and it seems to work fine except for one thing... when its not blowing cold air (like it isn't warm enough to be 'on') it still blows air.

I guess some things that would be helpful to know is that we use gas to heat with, and I don't know if this matters but our old thermostat was in a really inconvient place so I moved it over.

The green wire is for the fan , is the thermostat fan switch set to "auto" or "on"? In the on position it will run constantly. The green wire may be touching the red wire in the back of the thermostat.

I don't know how it could be touching it though, because all the wires have a little plastice 'wall' between them...

Will it hurt anything if I just wait and get my husband to look at it tom?

If you take the thermostat off the wall and separate the wires so that they are not touching , the fan should not be running, if it is then you know the problem is between there and the furnace.
Running constantly will not hurt it till your husband has a chance to look at it.

Okay I just took the front off and the green colored wire was marked RC from my old one so that is where I connected it to on the new one

The manual said not to go by the actual color of the wire because that wasn't always right...

Should I change it?

NO! You need to look at the wiring in the furnace and see what color the wires are that come from the thermostat to the terminel board in the furnace . This board will have terminels marked "R" "C" "W" "G" "Y" They should be connected to the same color wire , Red to "R" White to "W" Greeen to "G" Yellow to "Y" the "C" may be any other color. Not every one keeps to the color code , but you will see what wire goes where or you can change the wires to conform to the normal colors. If your green goes to "R" on the thermostat you will see a green wire on "R" in the furnace.

This is prob a really dumb question but where is the furnace?

That isn't the thermostat right?

If some one connected the wires differently then normal then a service person would look at the furnace like I mentioned, if you aren't familiar with the furnace location then we can do it differently.
How many wires do you have and what color?

I have 4 wires

Green connected to RC
Red to RH
Yellow to Y/O
White to W/B

O.K. Connect the green to " G" and put a jumper wire from RC to RH and it should work.
It may already have the jumper .

What is a jumper wire? And where would I find it, if it has one?

Just a bare wire to connect the 2 of them?

Will the fan stop running and everything work OK for the night if I connect the green to G and get a wire in the morning to connect the RC and RH together?

It is probably already connected, the factory jumper wire is a small red wire connected from the RC to the RH terminels in the thermostat . Just try connecting the green wire to the "G" terminel in the thermostat and if should work .
A small piece of the thermostat wire will work for a jumper
