Ok... I have someone who is currently in the british camerouns. Which I Believe is in Africa. He has got 3 french bulldogs which are 12 weeks old. I was wondering if anyone knew how ( I don't have long distance or anything) I could find out how much shipping would cost to get them to Nova Scotia Canada. The gentleman said it would only take a few hours and they could be shipped directly to my home.also. Even though this is not a site for ads I am going to say this. Would anyone be intrested in helping me pay for shipping if I could give you a pup for it They are ckc registered come with papers, vaccinaton records and the last vet check records? That is.. if I am getting them. The boyfriend still needs to know what I found out. So I wouldn't know his opinion until goodness maybe a day or two

I don't even think I could afford the shipping fee so maybe I shouldn't even bother

Perhaps not. Puppies are very expensive to raise. They need round after round of shots, and are more prone to come down with expensive to treat problems. Twelve weeks is past the age you can count on them fitting into your environment. If you really want a French Bulldog, and are short of cash, try a rescue. These are dogs that lost their home, but were taken into a foster home to be retrained as necessary and placed in the right home for them. You may find a rescue near you starting at
American Kennel Club - Breed Rescue dog dogs puppy puppies (http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm) The rescues charge a fee to help cover their expenses, but is much less than the price of a puppy plus all its medical expenses the first year.

There are a couple more pieces of information you need to consider besides the one that labman states, which is definitely the route I would take if I wanted a French Bulldog. First, it won't take just a few hours travel time. By airplane, you are talking at a minimum, six hours flight time. That is direct travel without stopovers which is almost unheard of today and is amazingly costly to get. You also need to calculate transportation time to and from the airport. Secondly, shipping puppies incorrectly can result in death. They are placed in the belly of the plane. Temperatures are not regulated and you do not know how long they will be left sitting on the plane prior to takeoff and after landing. It can take hours and the temperatures swing from intense cold to intense heat in a matter of minutes. You also would need to check with the Canadian government regarding the regulations and restrictions for bringing in animals from another country. They usually require a quarantine time. On top of all of that, why on earth would you consider doing business with someone from Africa? With the amount of scams being run out of that continent, unless you know the person well, you definitely should scrap the idea. You might find yourself bilked out of thousands of dollars, no puppies, and no legal recourse. Save yourself the heartache. Please follow labman's suggestion.

Yea I just heard about the scam too. I think that's what it is. I'm not located in europe or the us though. And about the doing business with someone from that continant... they supposabally lived here about an hour away from me before they were sent there by the roman catholic church to help out.. but I think it's a scam any ways... in the long run. I've gotten a few e-mails from other people about it... and its not the price of the vetting and such. All that would have been covered. That's why I was afraid I couldn't afford the shipping price

Michelle honey, I am glad that you have rethought this and I know that you are disappointed, but unless you know another person very well, who can verify the story that the person you are corresponding with is telling the truth, it isn't wise to do any kind of business with strangers in another country. One of the ways to know if this is a scam is if they request the money be sent via Western Union. Just as an FYI, I did an internet search this morning. There appears to be quite a number of puppy scams coming out of the Cameroons. It doesn't matter if you live in Canada, U.S. or Europe. These people will prey on anyone.
