I read my lease the other day and I noticed the date was wrong, does this make my lease invalid, the date is for last year?:confused:

Um, what year did you rent ? 02/01/06/2006 to 02/06/2007 but my renewal lease is fpor the exact date? I am a realtor and in a sale or purchase agreement if the date is wrong then the contract is null and void?

Sounds like the landlord just copied the old lease and forgot to change the dates.

The question is do you want to void the lease? If so, you might be able to void it on the grounds that it expired. But if you are worried, just take it back to the landlord and initial a correction.

I would like to leave because they have started major repairs, major repairs like remodeling, tearing down the ceiling in living room to update pipes:eek: , new kitchen, all new windows, painting the complex talk about an inconvenience my townhome looks like a demolition derby... I want out... so I read my renewal lease and the date is for last year... 02/01/2006 to 02/01/2007 which that time has expired, I have a son with autism and the noise really bothers him, most importantly the dust from the dry wallers is every where we basically live in our rooms... and the landlady made note that the rent is going up to fair market value, when the lease is up... I would like for my lease to be up now... also going from 800 to 950 is no slice of cake?? My credit is good and I don't want to ruin it.. help:confused: Also I feel when I renewed my lease they should have told us about the up and coming changes, but that would be too easy and it never is... This is iffy. This appears to be an honest mistake which is unlikely to get you past a judge. On the other hand, if, when you signed the lease, they did not inform you of the major repairs they were going to do and if those repairs have made the place unlivable, you might be able to get out on those grounds.
