I have a Kirkland signature gas dryer that has always worked fine, but it is not heating up all of a sudden, so it takes forever for a load of laundry to dry. Is there a pilot light I need to light?

Is it a gas dryer? If not no pilot light. Check your lint trap and make sure the big white hose is connected to vent hole. Move the dryer out from the wall and vacuum all the excess lint from the back, may help. Had the same issue and it worked!

Leon, I have the same dryer and experience this in the past.

Two areas that need a constant vilgent check: 1] remove the lint collecter screen and scrub with a hard bristol brush and dishwater soap. The problem here is that the wax that coats the dryer softner usually collects on the screen and reduces the air flow, which can create more drying time. 2] area that needs to be replace is the dryer hose that exits on the back bottom side of the dryer at least every year with medium usage. Too much lint can build up in the hose thus harder to release the hot air.

Last, when you run the gas dryer, usually within last than a minute the ignitor will like the gas furnace within the dryer. You should feel some heat inside the drum area. If not, then there is a heater furnace issue that may require a change out.

There is no pilot light to worry about on these dryers.

Hopefully that helps.

There are some with pilots and some with ignitors. You say it takes forever to dry clothes so you must be getting some heat? Does it feel warm in drum when drying? Steve is correct the air flow is very important. Clean all as Steve suggested.A quick check would be to disconnect the vent from dryer and try a load after cleaning the trap. Now if it dries normally the problem this the vent hose going to the outside.
