A month or so ago I went to the emergency room because I was having pains in my left side, and my period was late, I have a history of ectopic pregnancy, so I went in so they could check to see if that was. So they give me a pregnancy test, negative, and do a pelvic exam. At this time the Doc is like, everything looks normal, lets do a pelvic scan and a cat scan. At this time he asks me if there's any possibility I have contacted a STD, my hubby was in the hall and this is when he asked me, I said NOT A CHANCE.

So, I get all the scans done, and they move me to a room while awaiting results. My hubby and I were watching TV, and the doc comes in, and says he's leaving, but another doc will come tell me the results of my test, then he says, I have been thinking about what could be causing this pain within your home, he then tells me he thinks I have a STD, PID, Pelvic Inflamatory disease, now at this point I am wondering 1, is my hubby cheating on me, and 2, why is he saying that, he said I looked normal. He starts a antibiotic drip, and says, see you later.

10 minutes later a Doc comes in and tells me my tests are fine, I have a small cyst on my ovary, but this is normal with a woman that's about to mensturate.

So why did this doc, say all that STD stuff? I went home, and checked the web for symptoms of PID, I had NONE. I am so mad because it caused me so much stress and embarrassment. While we were checking out the nurse came in, and I asked her, why do I have this antibiotic drip, and she said, well you have PID, and I was like, that's not what this other Doc said, and she checks the charts and was like, I am sorry, I don't know why he said that. I have never even had history of a STD. I am pretty mad. I want to sue, but don't know how it would go.

I am pretty mad. I want to sue, but dont know how it would go.Hello eringa:

It wouldn't go well for you. There are two parts to any lawsuit. You have to 1) prove he was negligent, and you have to 2) show monetary damages (which would be exactly how much his misdiagnosis cost you).

In your case, yes, he was negligent and misdiagnosed your condition. His mistake, however, was caught by others before it could cause any damage.

It would make me mad too, but you can't sue every time you get mad.

Therefore, in my view, you don't have a case.
