I would like to know if anyone has had this problem? I have 3 children and just gave birth to the third on July 3rd... Im going on 4 weeks now and evertime I breastfeed my periods or bleeding goes away after the first 2 weeks... I noticed my bleeding was going away after 2 weeks when I started bleeding darker blood and very little spotting but after a few days it became very very bright red and started bleeding more? Does this have anything to do with internal infections or maybe possible uterus still returning back to normal. When I had my first two is was in 1996 and 2000... it has been 7 years since I had another baby... does age have anything to do with it the older you get the slower you get back to recovery? I am now 28 going on 29 and the last time I had a baby was when I was 21... so can anyone help give me helpful answers? Thanks..

I breastfed my second son and I bled for the whole 6 week recovery period. It all depends on your hormones. It is also possible that you are having a period, I have seen it happen only a few weeks after pregnancy :)

Bright red blood is a signal that something is wrong. You need to seek medical attention at once.

The blood that came out of me with both pregnancies was bright red. There was never anything wrong with me (that I know of).
What could be wrong? Now I'm all worried. :)

Bright red blood is a danger signal that all is not well. There may be hemorrhage, internal bleeding. Only a doctor can tell for sure if everything is okay.
Whenever we see bright red blood it sends up a bright red flag!!

It is possible you are starting your period, I started my period with both my boys within two weeks of (1 week with my first two weeks with my second, breastfeeding with both) the ending of my postpartum bleeding. It could still be your postpartum bleeding too. The first time I bleed straight for 6 weeks. This second time, I bled heavy, then it started to slow down around the end of the first week, then it started up again and fluctuated for 6 weeks. Everything was healthy and normal, my body and hormones were just still trying to regulate, and expel all the "left overs". If you have concerns, never hesitate to consult your doctor, or the nurses at the labor and delivery where you gave birth. Signs of infection include fever, abdominal pain, foul smelling lochia, etc. (consult your doctor for a full list) It could also be that you are over doing things. Once we start to feel better, we tend to forget what our bodies just under went the last 9 months, esp giving birth. Sometimes we start to over do our activities etc, and push ourselves too hard. Its not uncommon to begin to bleed a little more in this case, but should be watched carefully and reported to your physician. It may just be that you need to take things a little slower. Good luck to you.

Holy cow. I thought that was normal. Obviously I'm okay, but I'll have to remember that next time. :)
